The Gift of Color
Here’s a cool little article describing how two squirrel monkeys were injected with a gene that promots recognition of the color red. Apparently these New World monkeys only have blue and green cones, which nix the red spectrum altogether! What these scientists were able to do was alter the development of cones in the monkey eye and create a brighter future for them. Literally.
